With the holidays and lots of delicious baking just around the corner, Box Tops are an easy way to support PTF and our MCS students. Each Box Tops is worth 10 cents to our school.

Just clip the Box Tops symbol from participating products, and bring them to MCS. There is a specially marked "Box Tops" drawer in the front lobby white credenza for turn in, or have your child turn them into his or her teacher. See the attached Box Tops Product List before your next trip to the grocery store!

Middle School "Reflection Chapel"
This week in middle school, students participated in a Reflection Chapel.  Each year after our 6th graders return from Pine Valley, our 7th graders finish Serve and Solidarity Week, and our 8th graders return from Washington DC, we want to give the students an opportunity to reflect and share how they experienced God in whichever experience they were a part of.  Mr. Hellriegel said it perfectly, "We want to become comfortable sharing out loud how we see God moving and what He's doing in us.  Here is your opportunity!"  Many 6th graders shared about experiencing God in his vast Creation.  7th graders were clearly moved at how God changed their opinion of people who are living homelessly.  And 8th graders were humbled at the way God answered prayers for class unity and placed divine appointments with veterans on our path during the trip.  It was awesome to see students courageously share how God worked in them last week, and we are praying that He continues to build on those experiences as He shapes us into whom He created us to be!

8th Grade Commissioning Chapel
Middle school chapel on Monday, October 15th, marked an important milestone for the 8th graders, their leadership commissioning chapel. Every Monday during the first 5 weeks of school, Mrs. Harrison led the 8th graders through leadership training. This year's theme was "Lead to Impact" as the students gained understanding in what it means to set a Godly example, the attributes of a Godly leader, and the impact each of them can and will have should they choose to step into the call of leadership. This chapel was a culmination of that training as students professed their own "I Choose" declaration committing to being a Godly leader for this school and for His kingdom. The student ministries team of Hudson Wooton, Delara Gitibin, and Selah Steinle shared scriptures and a charge to the 8th grade class. The chapel ended in a beautiful time of prayer where parents, staff, and all students surrounded the 8th graders to commission them into this leadership calling. The timing of the chapel couldn't have been better as the 8th graders embarked on their DC trip a few days later and immediately put that training into action. And, they did, in the most amazing ways!
7th Grade Serve and Solidarity Week Review
2018 7th Grade Serve Week Recap
2018 7th Grade Serve Week Recap
Last week, our 7th grade students had the opportunity to practice seeing others and each other through HIS eyes during our Serve and Solidarity week. The week included bonding as a class at the beach and Boomers, leading the elementary students at the Elementary Field Day, and serving the homeless population in Orange County through Lighthouse, Mercy House, and Project Giving Light. Students served by passing out breakfast, listening to the stories of the people at the shelters, praying with them, washing their feet, and passing out the socks we collected through the Socktober drive. They also cleaned, organized, wrote cards, and created goodie bags and photo cards. God moved our 7th grade students, both working in and through them to make an impact for His kingdom!
6th Grade Pine Valley Camp Recap
6th graders had a wonderful time at Pine Valley Science Camp last week! Throughout the week we enjoyed science classes, being in nature, bonding with friends, and spending time with God. It will definitely be a memory for all who attended for years to come!
Middle School Shalimar Connections Club
Next Lunch Club Meetings: December 6th and 13th

We have launched a "Shalimar Connections Club" where middle school students have the opportunity to plan the games, devotionals, and activities that they then get to lead at the Shalimar Learning Center. We are thrilled to be expanding our relationship with the children in the Shalimar community to also include a partnership with Think Together, the organization that runs the after school program at The Shalimar Learning Center.

In October, 24 middle school students jumped into building relationships with children at The Shalimar Learning Center through the language that all kids speak - PLAY! They played ice breaker games, taught the students a special dance to "Together" (High School Musical) that was choreographed by our Theatre Arts students, and 8th grader (Delara Gitibin) led the students in a devotional that focused on their unique gifts and talents and identity in Jesus! We finished our time in the community with free play at the park in the center of the neighborhood which provided an opportunity for our students to play and connect with the kids who live there. We are ALL looking forward to our next visit in December! We are grateful for the opportunity to build these relationships and connections.

There is still plenty of opportunity for our middle school students to get involved! Any students interested in getting plugged into the Shalimar Connections Club should attend the next lunch club meetings on December 6th and  13th to plan for the December 14th Shalimar visit!
