Paulette: You are a true MCS hero! From chapels to UGroups to ASB to PALs to PE to DC, you pour into our students with love and excellence.
You are a true servant - humble, thoughtful, and always taking care of others before yourself. Our students get to experience Jesus each day because of you.
Thank you for letting Him use you here!

Spirit Rock - Celebrating the MCS Family
-Be Thankful-
Our MCS Third Grade Girl Scout troop painted the spirit rock this week themselves. They worked on their 3rd key of the Brownie Quest where the girls learn to Take Action in the community and learn how to make a statement. Each of the girls had to come up with a design for the rock for the theme
"Be Thankful", Each girl presented their design and the girls voted for the best design for the rock. They each made a hand print and wrote what they are thankful for. This third grade troop is amazing and they rock!
...and we are grateful for our 3rd grade Girl Scouts and for sharing their heart with the MCS family!
Amazing pose Juliet!. "Ballet is like dreaming on your feet." quote from the internet
Happy Birthday Anderson. You Rock! We love your special rock. We wish you a wonderful year in the Lord.

There are still a few spots open for those of you who want to celebrate something special on the PTF Spirit Rock:

If you would like to share your special rock design and person in E-News, please forward your photo to nenglish@marinerscs.org.

Lion Pride Chapel
6th Grade Recipients
7th Grade Recipients
8th Grade Recipients
This Monday's middle school chapel was our first Lion Pride chapel of the year. Lion Pride is awarded to students who demonstrate strong Christ-like character in word and in deed. In 6th grade, students are chosen based on their display of the characteristics of a GROWING DISCIPLE. In 7th grade, students are selected based on how they demonstrate the BEATITUDES. And, in 8th grade, the award is based on LEADERSHIP and those who follow the example of Joshua who choose to follow the Lord daily.
We are so proud to share the Lion Pride Award recipients for the first quarter of the 2018-19 school year.
First Quarter Progress Reports and Conference Letters
Be on the lookout for fall progress reports and conference letters. It's hard to believe it but we have completed the first quarter of the year! It's been an amazing, fun filled, memory making start to the year. We are proud of all middle school students have done so far! First quarter progress reports and fall conference letters were sent home on Friday (11/9) with middle school students. A signed copy of both is to be returned to the homeroom teacher. Celebrate the success and accomplishments your child has achieved!
Conferences will be held the week we return from Thanksgiving Break.
Middle School What's4Lunch? Wednesday November 14th
(orders due Sunday, 11/11)
For Middle School Only. Our November What's4Lunch? Wednesday will be held on Wednesday, November 14th, and the restaurant will be Chronic Tacos! To place your child's order visit:
http://marinerscs.org/w4lw-nov2018.
All orders are due no later than Sunday (11/11) at 11:45PM.
Each meal will cost $8.00 and will include 2 tacos (chicken or steak and choice of flour or corn tortillas) with a side of chips and salsa and bottle of water. Please print your receipt and send it with your child the day of the event in order to expedite the process of receiving their meal!
Our November Share2Wear is taking place this week! Our school is holding a Fall Food Drive ending on Wednesday, 11/14, and our "share" item is linked to the Food Drive! The food we collect will go toward 2 initiatives...1) the Blessing Bags we are currently creating for students to pass out to people in the homeless community; and 2) Project Giving Light! Last year we donated enough food to overflow their food pantry, and what a blessing it would be if we were able to do that again! Please see the list to know which foods we are collecting for the Fall Food Drive.
It would be great if our students brought food in for this drive all 3 days, but in order for middle school students to participate in our Share2Wear, they must bring in a food item on Tuesday (11/13), our designated Share Day.
When they "share" their food items on Tuesday (11/13), they can participate in the "wearing" of Decades Day attire on Wednesday (11/14)! Middle School is bringing "Way Back Wednesday" to a whole new level! The best of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s are coming to MCS! Students pick any decade from the 50s-90s and completely deck out! We should know exactly which decade they are representing by looking at them. We can't wait to see what they come up with!

Pancake Breakfast Recap and Thank You!
A HUGE thank you is in order to everyone who came out and supported our Pancake Breakfast on Wednesday! Not only was it a great community gathering, but we collectively raised $3,000 for veterans and active servicemen and women being supported by Fisher House! This is the largest total raised to date from any of our previous Pancake Breakfast events, and we are looking forward to seeing how God is going to use this money to support veterans and those in the military who have sacrificed so much for us. Once again, thank you MCS families!
Congratulations on Your Undefeated Season
6th Grade Flag Football! Great Job!
Congratulations go out to our 6th grade boys flag football team on an undefeated season. They beat Harbor Day 14 to 6 in a thriller of the game to claim the title of Champions! Great job to the players and coaches! In Jesus name we Play!
Middle School Shalimar Connections Club
Next Lunch Club Meetings: December 6th and 13th
We have launched a "Shalimar Connections Club" where middle school students have the opportunity to plan the games, devotionals, and activities that they then get to lead at the Shalimar Learning Center. We are thrilled to be expanding our relationship with the children in the Shalimar community to also include a partnership with Think Together, the organization that runs the after school program at The Shalimar Learning Center.
In October, 24 middle school students jumped into building relationships with children at The Shalimar Learning Center through the language that all kids speak - PLAY! They played ice breaker games, taught the students a special dance to "Together" (High School Musical) that was choreographed by our Theatre Arts students, and 8th grader (Delara Gitibin) led the students in a devotional that focused on their unique gifts and talents and identity in Jesus! We finished our time in the community with free play at the park in the center of the neighborhood which provided an opportunity for our students to play and connect with the kids who live there. We are ALL looking forward to our next visit in December! We are grateful for the opportunity to build these relationships and connections.
There is still plenty of opportunity for our middle school students to get involved! Any students interested in getting plugged into the Shalimar Connections Club should attend the next lunch club meetings on December 6th and 13th to plan for the December 14th Shalimar visit!
