WELCOMING NEW STAFF CHANGES

It is with excitement that we announce new personnel that will join us this school year as well as transitions of current staff into new positions.

We believe God has called them to serve at our school and are thrilled they obediently said “yes”!

Mr. Chavero, a native Californian, graduated from California State University at Fullerton with a B.A. in Communications, with an emphasis in Advertising. Before Cal State, he played baseball for Irvine Valley College and also received a scholarship to play at Dana College in Nebraska. Mr. Chavero is coming from Vista Verde Elementary K-8 school in Irvine where he ran the PE program for 15 years. He also was part of the baseball coaching staff at Mater Dei High School for 7 years. Eight months ago he married his beautiful wife Angelica and is excited to one day have a family. He and his wife attend Saddleback Church in Anaheim. In his free time, Mr. Chavero enjoys camping, sporting events, barbecuing, exercising, going to the beach, hiking, and spending time with the people he loves.

Melody Bausley is a native Californian who graduated from BIOLA University with a B.A. in Intercultural Studies. Prior to becoming a mom, Melody worked in both in youth ministry and in various project coordination roles. She and her husband, Mike are members of Canopy Church in Costa Mesa. Melody is the mother of two daughters, Pearl, who is entering second grade at MCS, and Lily, who will be entering MCS this year as a Kindergartener. She enjoys cycling, paddling boarding, baking, and summer vacations in Lake Tahoe.

Mrs. Vander Wal is a graduate of Pepperdine University with both a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Education. She and her husband Don live in North Tustin along with their sons, Ben an MCS graduate, and Drew, a current seventh grader at MCS. The family attends Grace Fellowship and enjoys traveling, especially to the beach or mountains, After various roles at MCS, she spent the last year working in the Student Support office. She is thrilled and blessed to be transitioning into the position of Elementary Resource and Support Specialist for the upcoming school year.

Mrs. Moore and her husband Jeff Moore live in Costa Mesa with their 5 1/2 year old son Elijah who is going into Kindergarten at MCS. They attend The Crossing Church in Costa Mesa. As a family they love to be outdoors, go to the beach, bike, and skateboard. One of my favorite activities is to curl up a read a good book. Lauren has worked in the food service industry as a server, corporate trainer, and manager for 16 years. Lauren grew up in Orange County and is MCS alumni. I am excited to be back!

After 30 years in the classroom, Mrs. Thurston is excited to step into the new role she confidently believes God has called her to. The Middle School team excitedly and confidently agrees!

I never anticipated celebrating my 31st year of teaching (24th here at MCS) by changing jobs, but God had different plans for me! At the end of last year, I felt God calling me to something new, but I honestly had no idea what it would be. Over the past few weeks, I have realized the importance of aligning my will to His and when that happens, blessings abound. I've experienced such great joy and excitement about this year! Although leaving the classroom is hard, in my new role, I will get to be in all the classrooms! I have the opportunity to build relationships with all middle school students, and I will be able to provide professional development for my colleagues. Please pray for me and our entire staff as we do our best to be "after [His] heart" (Acts 13:22).

Mrs. Shaw graduated from Texas Christian University with a B.S. in the Study of Exceptional Children. She has a Multiple Subject and an Education Specialist teaching credential from California. Mrs. Shaw has been working in public and private school education for the past 25 years. She and her husband, William, enjoy attending Calvary Chapel East Anaheim. They share their home with their dog, Roscoe, and their cat, Thanos. Mrs. Shaw enjoys reading, being outdoors, and family game nights.

Mr. Moore has lived in California now for 5 years after graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with honors. Prior to becoming an educator, Mr. Moore worked in sales and management for several years. He and his wife, Ana, both attend the Orange County Church of Christ in Irvine and have served as leaders in the singles ministry, as well as him having experience teaching in Kingdom Kids, serving in VBS, and leading the church's homeless initiative in Laguna Beach. In his free time, Mr. Moore enjoys studying the Scriptures, spending time with his wife, and playing basketball. Noah will be the long-term sub for Mrs. Sheck until she returns in January after completing her teaching credential.

Mrs. Viveros who is a native Arizonian graduated from Grand Canyon University with a B.S in Secondary Education. She has a California teaching credential. Prior to becoming an educator, Mrs. Viveros served as a youth leader and worked for her church's children's ministry. She is ecstatic to be a part of MCS! Her favorite hobbies include reading, hiking, and spending time with her family.

Beginning the 2022-23 school year, Land’s End will no longer be the school’s supplier for middle school skirts. All skirts must now be purchased through Vicki Marsha. The benefits of this change include immediate fitting and purchasing through the local store as well as clothing features to better support the growing middle school student. Only two currently approved Land’s End skirts will continue to be allowed.
