Rosie Adopted! ❤

We know so many of you donated to support the care of our girl Rosie, a sweet puppy that was left near death on the streets of Asbury Park (You can see her original post here). It took nearly 2 months of treatment and TLC in a foster home to get this girl back to a healthy state, but we did it 🧡 Rosie had been through so much, but this girl is a fighter! She has proven that animals can still give and feel love, even after being so horribly neglected and mistreated. Rosie has found a wonderful family who spoils her like the puppy she was always meant to be! Thank you to everyone who helped us help Rosie - dogs like her get a second chance because of you 😊

Kitty Highlight: Snowball

She's ready to roll right into your life! Snowball has been waiting so long to find a forever family ❤ This little girl was taken in as just a tiny kitten at 2-weeks-young. Her family kept her, but developed allergies so had to make the unfortunate decision to surrender her to our care.

Snowball is a confident, super-smart, and playful girl who knows exactly what she wants (and what she doesn't want!) Snowball is so smart, that she even learned 'high-five' and 'down' through our CatPawsitive training program! Snowball could co-exist with other cool kitties - or be just as happy as the only cat.

Save the Dates!

Our Pet Palooza is back! We'll be at the MCSPCA celebrating all of the furry, feathered, and scaled friends we love so very much ❤ Lots of new, family-fun features are in the works!

The Fur Ball Gala, our biggest fundraiser of the year, is set for June 8th @ the Shadowbrook at Shrewsbury. We're so happy to be celebrating Fran & Paul Turner and their love for animals!

MCSPCA Read to Dog Program Highlight

We had such a fantastic visit with the Robertsville Elementary School in Marlboro last week! 3 of our Pet Therapy teams visited with some students to exercise our Read to Dog program.

The Read to Dog program provides a non-judgmental environment for children to better their reading skills and gain confidence in their abilities, while raising their self-esteem. We coordinate with local libraries and schools to provide certified pet therapy animals for each child to read aloud to, in a private one-on-one interaction. Learn more about our Pet Therapy program here!

Brie gets a second chance!

Pectus Excavatum - no, that's not a new spell from Harry Potter - but it is the congenital condition little stray Brie was suffering from when she arrived at our shelter. P.E. causes an anomaly in the sternum and rib cage, causing them to sink in. Left untreated, Pectus Excavatum can lead to serious issues with cardiac and respiratory function if there is not enough space for the heart and lungs to grow.

Thanks to one of our very generous donors, Brie was able to receive corrective surgery and then head to a foster home to recuperate. When she returned, there were no signs of exercise intolerance or breathing distress - a great sign for kitties who've undergone the same surgery! After her feature on social media, Brie was adopted the next day and is now living the good life ❤ When you support our shelter, you support happily ever afters for kitties like Brie!

Who's waiting at the end of your rainbow? 🌈

A pot of gold is probably a long shot! So how about the chance to cover the care of one of our shelter pets this month? 🍀🍀

For the entire month of March, you can sponsor a shelter pet and they'll have a customized St. Patty's day card on their door to give them a little extra luck in finding a forever home!

Our VVCC is Back in Business!

Our Vogel Veterinary Care Center renovation is complete and we couldn’t be happier! We are so extraordinarily grateful for the generosity of our long-time friends, Mr. Vogel and his late wife Anne, who have supported our organization for many years, and whose philanthropy allows us to bring these great services to the public!

Our VVCC received a much needed facelift New walls and flooring with a coating that is easy to sanitize between patients along with new counters, cabinets, and shelving to maximize storage in a compact space.

For the animals, new care wards that can accommodate larger dogs, and sound-resistant kennels and cat cubbies to minimize stress. Additionally, our surgical suites are now equipped with state-of-the-art scrub sinks and brand-new surgical tables that allow for accommodations for extra-large breed dogs.

And finally, a much-needed expansion of our doctors' office that will allow us to add more doctors to our staff as the needs of our community grow! You'll find the highest level of compassionate care at our VVCC ❤

The feeling we get when we receive these types of notes, it’s indescribable ❤

If you remember our Billy Beefcake - he was a stray dog who was having a really hard time living in the shelter. Billy was stressed, losing weight, and was so anxious in his room that adopters would just keep walking 😢 Billy needed to get out of the shelter for his own health - so we made it happen with our Loveafoster program. Billy landed in a perfect home, where he was cared for, loved dearly, and finally seen as the amazing dog we all knew he was!

Billy’s foster parents made the decision to make him a permanent family member and the rest is history! We know all of you reading this can understand why we do what we do here! Thanks for helping us make it all happen ❤
