Laddy

If you remember Laddy from last week's email, you know he was found horribly abused and suffering. Laddy had multiple skull fractures, face and neck lacerations and was disoriented and crying out for help. There were a few times early on when we didn't know if he was strong enough to pull through, but luckily our little boy is now doing great ❤ Laddy had a few consultations with the veterinarians at Garden State Veterinary Specialists and they're thrilled with his improvement! He's on a few different medications to help with pain and swelling and is currently on a special, soft diet so his fractures can heal properly. We're still closely monitoring Laddy for neurological problems but as of now he acts like any other sweet, loving puppy.

We think Laddy is on a great path to a happy life, and that's all thanks to everyone who donated towards his care! THANK YOU!

Abandoned Puppies

The same weekend we got the call for Laddy, we also got a call about a litter of newborn puppies abandoned in a box at Collingwood Auction in Farmingdale. The puppies were approximately 24-hours old and were dehydrated and lethargic. Thankfully we got the call just in time to get the puppies on heating pads and begin to tube-feed them to get them stabilized. Sadly, we lost 2-puppies of the litter due to internal deformities but the remaining 7 are eating well and improving daily. As you can see in the photo, this little chubby cherub is a good eater!

We're able to act so quickly for cases like this thanks to our donors and our foster network! Interested in dog/puppy fostering? Email fostering@monmouthcountyspca.org!

Valentine's Day Brunch Success!

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day Brunch a few Sundays back at The Channel Club - there was a bit of snowfall, but all it did was add to the beautiful views of the Shrewsbury River. The sold-out event brought out some old friends and some new faces, both of which we were happy to see! Our basket raffle and silent auction, in-house games, 50/50 raffle and other fundraising efforts for the event brought in over $50,000 for our organization! Our lucky 50/50 winner was a Wall Twp resident who took home over $9,000 - all it takes is one ticket! We were happy to honor 2 of our long-time MCSPCA volunteers, Rob Burton and Jo-Ann Moyer plus 2 of our Community Partners, The Eatontown Police Department and Executive Coach, Gene Glatter. We're already looking forward to next year!

Hawk Rescue

Is this Hawk fondly embracing our ACO Manager after being rescued? We'd like to believe so! This young hawk was found with a broken talon and unable to take off to fly. Our Animal Control team responded to the call in Tinton Falls and safely removed the hawk from the property. The hawk was then transported to a licensed rehabber and we've gotten an update that he's improving and should be released back into the wild within the coming weeks!

All-ages welcome, Saturday March 19th from 1pm-3pm at the MCSPCA! There will be book readings, drawing lessons, and activities for kids run by our Humane Education team! Click here for the Facebook event!

Sweet Ava on her adoption day!

Partners in Lifesaving!

Ava was found as a stray and it was lucky we found her when we did, because she was suffering from an inguinal hernia and a mouth full of infected teeth When our friends at Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital heard about Ava, they were more than happy to take her on as a patient. Dr. Campbell and Dr. Rawlins of Oakhurst did Ava’s hernia repair and extracted *20* teeth! Imagine how much better she feels!! We’re so thankful for practices like Oakhurst Vet who come to the rescue for our shelter pets ❤

Check out our dogs in foster still waiting for homes! ❤
