District's Achievement Recognized For Using 100% Renewable Energy

MCWD Receives 3Cprime Certification

We are proud to announce that Marina Coast Water District was recognized by the Central Coast Community Energy for choosing 100% renewable energy and reducing our carbon emission footprint.

Last summer, the District switched to 100% renewable energy as the first step of a comprehensive climate action plan to reduce environmental impacts. The utilization of 3CE Green Energy resulted in an estimated reduction of 305 Metric Tons of greenhouse emissions from District operation.

This 3Cprime certification confirms our commitment to remain sustainable through the planning, management, and development of water resources in an environmentally sensitive manner.

District Connects With Customers at County Fair

Staff Demo's Rainwater and Greywater Use

We had a wonderful turnout at the Monterey County Fair, where Marina Coast Water District displayed soil polymers and whole home water use monitoring devices. Our Conservation staff was on hand to demonstrate rainwater harvesting and greywater reuse for curious attendees.

As promised, we raffled off a 50-gallon rainwater tank and a Flume device (thank you Flume for the donation), while Conservation Specialist Paul and intern Katie shared information about landscape incentives, rebates, and reducing your water bill.

It's always great to connect with customers and answer your questions!

Keep Fats, Oils, & Grease Out of Your Pipes

Enjoy National Bacon Day But Remember to Dispose of Grease and Fat Properly

For those who celebrate #NationalBaconDay, remember that Fats, Oils, & Grease (FOG) can harden in your pipes causing clogs & overflows. All fried food blockage is harmful to the environment and to public health, so please:

  • Keep your sewer system clear by keeping FOG out of drains.
  • Put cooking oil and grease in the TRASH.
  • Place food scraps without a bag in your GREEN CURBSIDE CART.
