Two Kent County Backyard Flocks Tested Presumptive Positive for HPAI

On September 23rd, preliminary testing of two non-poultry backyard flocks in Kent County, Delaware have returned presumptive positive for avian influenza from the University of Delaware's Lasher Laboratory. CREAATE Act Would Double USDA Export Promotion Fundings


A bill to double support for two USDA export promotion programs has been introduced in the US Senate. The Act would increase annual funding for the Market Access Program to $400 million and bolster the Foreign Market Development Program by more than $34 million, more here. First Responders Prepared for Grain Bin Accidents


To help prevent grain bin accidents, the Maryland ag community partnered with Nationwide and the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety to provide lifesaving resources to rural America's first responders. Eight Maryland fire departments were awarded with rescue tubes and hands-on training this year to prepare them to respond when local grain entrapments occur. More here.

Biden-Harris Administration Makes $500 Million Available to Increase Innovative American-made Fertilizer Production


The Biden-Harris Administration is making $500 million in grants available to increase American-made fertilizer production to spur competition and combat price hikes on US farmers caused by the war in Ukraine. Michigan Farmer Agrees to $1.2 M Settlement to Resolve Allegations


An individual located in Springport, Michigan agreed to pay $1,200,000 to resolve allegations that they violated the False Claims Act by causing the submission of fraudulent claims for federal crop insurance and federal farm benefit payments. Read the full story online here.  

Worcester Tech Students Prepare for Agriculture Careers
