Brazilian farmers have harvested 78% of their 2020/2021 soybean crop and were able to finish planting their second corn crop. Read more here.

LEGISLATION OF INTEREST

The 2021 virtual legislative session is coming to an end next week. Things are moving fast and furious, nothing of concern, but to avoid speculation on what will happen between now and midnight on Monday, we will send out an end of session report next week.

Cost-Share Increase for Manure Transport Program

The Maryland Department of Agriculture announced the Manure Transport Program will increase the cost-share rate for farmers and manure brokers hauling poultry manure to qualifying farms to $28 per ton. Full story here.

The Fertilizer Institute and partners announced the organizations and products selected for phase two trials in the Next Gen Fertilizer Challenges. Record-Breaking Patronage Distribution to Members

MidAtlantic Farm Credit recently announced a record-breaking patronage distribution of over $54 million in cash to its members. The Association returned over 73% of their patronage sourced income, reducing borrowers' interest rates by almost 40%. Read more here.

New Conservation Practices Eligible for Cost-Share

MDA has announced that four new conservation practices are now eligible for cost-share funding up to 87.5% through the MACS Program. These practices include windbreaks, hedgerows, silvopasture, tree and shrub establishment, and pasture fencing. Learn more here.
