Derecho storm in the Midwest

On Monday, Iowa and other nearby states experiences flatted corn fields, damaged storage facilities, and roofs ripped off of livestock buildings from 70 mph winds and gusts over 85 mph. Exact damage is yet to be determined, Iowa Corn Growers said it is too soon to accurately describe how much of the crop was lost. At this time, they are looking at 200 to 400 million bushels of lost production (corn and beans) decreasing national yield by 2.5 to 4.5%. The USDA estimated about 2.8 billion bushels in storage.

Please join us in praying for our farm family in Iowa. As relief efforts become available, MGPA will keep you updated.
