Since the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010, MDEQ has made it a priority to solicit restoration project ideas from local residents and affected stakeholders.

One effective method implemented by MDEQ is the online Restoration Project Portal which receives project ideas for consideration.  This has led to some innovative and intriguing projects ideas. However, the portal currently has an accumulation of project ideas which are not feasible for restoration consideration due them either already being funded, drastically changed due to changed circumstances, or deemed not needed.

In 2022, MDEQ will update the Restoration Project Portal and its process. Starting April 1, 2022, MDEQ will archive the projects that were submitted or updated before January 1, 2018.
1. New project ideas can be submitted here: https://www.mdeq.ms.gov/restoration/project-portal/. There is no deadline to submit new project ideas.

2. Updates to existing project ideas such as relevancy, description, budget, progress etc. can also be submitted. Updated projects will continue to be included for consideration in future project selection processes across the various restoration funding streams.

If assistance is needed in updating or entering a project idea, please email restore.portal@mdeq.ms.gov.
