MDHHS Updates Face Mask Requirements

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has updated the state’s Gatherings and Face Mask Order in accordance with revised Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance to exempt fully vaccinated individuals from the state’s face mask requirement effective Saturday, 5/15/21.

Employers should note that Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) COVID-19 Emergency Rules continue to mandate that employers require face coverings to be worn in shared spaces, during in-person meetings and when employees cannot consistently maintain 6 feet of separation.

MMA President & CEO Joins Governor to Urge Vaccination

MMA’s John Walsh joined Governor Whitmer last week to recognize Michigan's progress in returning to in-person work.

MMA President & CEO John Walsh joined Governor Gretchen Whitmer last week to recognize the milestone reached by achieving a 55% COVID-19 vaccination rate and consequently the return of in-person work for all workers on 5/24/21.

“This is clearly an indication of our progress in the fight against the pandemic and allows our office colleagues the opportunity to once again interact in person, increasing the effectiveness of collaboration, fueling creativity and restoring social and professional relationships at work,” said Walsh.

Walsh also urged continued progress in COVID-19 vaccinations. “The clear path to normalcy is through vaccination. I am proud to stand here today, representing manufacturers across the state that have risen to the challenge from the beginning of the pandemic to respond to peoples’ needs. We have hit the milestone of 55% laid out by the Governor and now we encourage everyone to go get vaccinated and make progress toward getting back to our normal lives.”
