The Maryland Department of Aging (MDOA) is pleased to announce a competitive funding opportunity for healthy aging grants. These awards aim to help Maryland residents maintain independence in group or community housing and avoid transitioning to higher levels of institutional care.
Grant recipients will provide programs that support health and lifestyle needs for low-income older adults, promote safe aging in the community, reduce hospitalizations, minimize the financial burden of higher care requiring Medicaid support, and enhance overall quality of life.
MDOA welcomes applications from Maryland-based nonprofit organizations or local governments in good standing with the Department of Assessments and Taxation, that meet the following criteria:
- Identifies a challenge to improve healthy lifestyles for older adults living in group or community housing settings.
- Outlines a plan to address the above challenge.
- Demonstrates experience working with local housing communities and older adults.
- Shows relationships with local service agencies and organizations.
- Displays project management expertise in health and/or housing.
- Addresses sustainability and replicability beyond the funding period.
- Reports measurable outcomes of the grant, including submitting specific outcome data/metrics.
- Includes letters of support from partner organizations.
All providers that have participated in Congregate Housing Services Program and the Community Housing/Healthy Aging Grant Program are eligible and encouraged to submit an application.
This funding opportunity aligns with Longevity Ready Maryland, our state's multisector plan for aging to prepare for the opportunities and challenges of a growing older population.
