Our FAITH is the foundation of our COMMUNICATIONS
Greetings from Anabaptist Communicators!

I hope you are doing as well as possible as this unusual summer continues to unfold.

Please see below an invitation from John Longhurst , communications coordinator for Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) Canada, to complete a survey on the future of Anabaptist/Mennonite communications in the next week or two. (John recently facilitated our AC Communications and Coronavirus online conversations.) Thank you for considering sharing your perspectives as an Anabaptist communicator!

MDS survey
What's the future of Anabaptist/Mennonite communications?
That's a big question!

It's a question I'd like to explore as part of a communications review I'm doing for MDS. One of the goals of the review is to help MDS position itself for communications challenges in the future. To that end, would you be willing to help us by answering a few questions? I will gladly share the findings with the wider Anabaptist Communicators network after receiving your replies.

Please send your reply to me at  jlonghurst@mds.mennonite.net . If you prefer to talk over the phone, you can call me at 431-373-1498. Thanks!

John Longhurst, communications coordinator, MDS Canada

+++++++++++++++++

1. What are the biggest challenges facing Mennonite communicators today? (For you personally in your place of work, and as you look around at the challenges facing communicators generally.)

2. What are the opportunities available to Mennonite communicators today? (What new things would you like to do?)

3. What do you think are the most effective ways to communicate today? (If you could do any one or two things, what might that be?)

4. Thinking about youth, what do you think are the best ways to reach them? (Anything you are doing that is meeting with success?)

5. A bit a self-serving question: What advice would you give MDS for communicating in the future?

6. Anything else you'd like to add?

Talking Heads LIVE: Video Production 101
Webinar recording available via Member Portal

Many thanks to Darryl Neustaedter Barg, director of communications at Mennonite Church Manitoba, for giving us tips to take our video production to the next level in our June 19 Video Production 101 webinar. Darryl, who also serves Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg as media production coordinator and as an instructor in multi-camera livestream production and live audio production, covered a lot of ground in a short time and also is available for follow-up questions to the webinar.

AC members can access a recording of the webinar (and other Talking Heads LIVE events and presentations from past conferences) through the new Member Portal on the AC website. If you haven't yet set up your password to access the portal, this would be a great time to do it! (AC members received emails in late May with a personalized link; the emails came from no-reply@editmysite.com and were titled " Welcome to www.anabaptistcomm.org !" just in case yours ended up in your spam folder.)

If you have any questions, please contact AnabaptistCommunicators@gmail.com .
Affinity groups

Thanks to those of you who have already signed up for an affinity group or groups.
These virtual conversations with folks working in the same communications fields are a great way to share challenges, get new ideas and encourage one another in our work. We will be setting up Zoom meetings soon!
You are receiving this email because you have connected with Anabaptist Communicators through membership and/or participation in one or more of our events. We don't send a lot of emails and would be glad to stay in touch with you! You can manage your subscription preferences below if needed.
