Scholars in Boston

On Monday, juniors who are part of the Jeff and Rachel Sutton Scholars Program, headed to Boston for their overnight, where they visited colleges and toured the different neighborhoods. At Boston University, they met up with Alumnus Ralph Shweky, who spoke about the Jewish life on campus and the Hillel House, which he is very involved in. At Brandeis University, they met up with Alumnus Naomi Haser, who spoke to them about how she adjusted to campus living and being away from home.

Hands On Learning

After teaching his students the laws of a kosher mezuzah, Rabbi Joey Haber took his students around the school to hang some up.

Literary Analysis in English Class

Mrs. Roxanne Maleh's 10th grade English class split up into groups today to analyze the many references Author Ray Bradbury makes in the dystopian novel
Fahrenheit  451.

College Corner

Marianne Booufall-Tynan, the Director of Enrollment Management at Macaulay Honors College, came last Friday to talk with our seniors who are interested in applying to Macaulay this year, and  today they heard from Ari Greene from Yeshivah University.

Upcoming Events from the College Guidance Department:

When Dads Teach

We are fortunate to welcome Mr. Freddy Zalta, father of Freshman Carol Zalta, to teach our drama elective while Mrs. Norma Tawil is out on maternity leave. Mr. Stevie Elbaz, father of Freshman Ralph, runs our Real Estate Club!

#WeLoveOurTeachers
There's a reason our students love to meet up with their teachers after they graduate, like in Brooklyn College for a class at the Hillel House with Mrs. Grace Boiangiu, and that's due to the bonds and relationships they foster while in MDYHS.
Truly unique and special!

--Last night, the Lady Warriors, under Coach Marie Mason set out to face defending champions, the Ilan Invaders. The Warriors came out strong playing tight defense, and having great communication on the court. With great passes, and with a disciplined offense, the Warriors pulled through with a season opener WIN 27-14!

Players of the game 1) Bette Jane Gindi-  for aggressive defense and crucial rebounds 2) Talya Grego - for amazing passes, looks, and shots on the court.

--Congratulations to Coach Michelle Cohen and the Girls Volleyball Team on its opening game victory over Shulamith. They won 2 straight games with scores of 25--11 & 25--16. Excellent teamwork by everyone and great serving by Violet Cohen, Joy Sutton & Julie Terzi.
