Haven't tried Lunch Bunch yet?
If you need more time to get everything ready for Christmas, you might want to try Lunch Bunch. You do not have to sign up in advance, just pack a lunch box and send it in with your child. Be sure to write your child's name on it. We will bill you $8 and you have until 2 pm to get stuff done before you come back to MECE for pick up.
MECE is talking part in the Pajama Partners annual pajama collection. Please consider donating children's new pajamas. MECE will pair these with a new book, and the pajama partners will makes sure that some children in need will have a sweet bedtime story! Please drop this off by December 4.
Thank you to everyone who completed the UMAP evaluation! We appreciate the feedback. Here are a few answers to questions that were raised:
Enrichments for Threes-normally Threes do get to take part in our Enrichment programs. Unfortunately, we aren't able to have classes mix so we had to limit it this year. Miss Helene and Miss Sharon's classes- look for a survey soon about Music on Tuesdays and Little Steamers on Fridays. We might also be able to offer these starting in January if there is enough demand.
Parents want to come in the school-this is another Covid restriction. We are trying to find creative ways to involve parents outside the building. Feel free to ask your teacher if you can meet the class at the platform to read a book or share a family tradition.
When do we do rainy day pickup-this can be confusing. I use Weather Bug app that alerts me to lightening in the area. Sometimes we are heading out and then it starts to rain! We are trying to think up some kind of signal we can give you to make it easier.
Outdoor handwashing-I actually contacted a company to install an outdoor sink so children could wash their hands before coming in to school. Each child needs at least 30 seconds to do a proper hand wash and then we'd end up with a line of kids all together. We figured it was safer to walk in and wash hands at their classroom sink.
Why do teachers need to wear masks?-I just feel blessed to have so many amazing teachers willing to work during a pandemic!
Why doesn't MECE accept the VPK voucher? This is a financial issue. The state of Florida has underfunded this school year program. Many schools can make up for the loss during the extended hours, often called "wrap around fees". The year we looked into it the state reduced funding and increased the class size to 20. We highly recommend that you use your VPK voucher during the summer time at Advent Lutheran or EMMA.
We'd like upgraded AC filters-Great news. We did upgrade our AC filters this summer. Additionally, each class has an air purifier and we installed fans in each room.
