September 2026 Newsletter

Dear Maine CHWs and Allies,

A Successful Summit and Exciting Opportunities ahead.

Wow! What an incredible turnout we had for the 2025 4th Annual Community Health Worker (CHW) Summit. More than 160 attendees joined us for a day of learning, networking, and inspiration, alongside 20+ exhibitors and an outstanding group of sponsors. We are deeply grateful to each and every person and organization who helped make this event such a success.

From our inspiring keynote speaker to the engaging breakout sessions, the Summit showcased the strength, passion, and dedication of Maine's CHW workforce. We appreciate the thoughtful feedback provided through our post-event survey and are committed to addressing concerns and implementing improvements as we plan future events. Thank you also for the many emails and messages expressing your appreciation and enthusiasm. Your support means so much to us.

We're already beginning preparations for our 5th Annual CHW Summit in 2027! If you are interested in joining the planning committee and helping shape this milestone event, please reach out to Bridgette.

For those who were unable to attend the Summit, or who may not yet be aware, we are excited to share that funding is available to support CHWs pursuing certification. Scholarships and transportation assistance are available, and organizations with larger groups may contact Bridgette to discuss the possibility of on-site certification proctoring.

As you continue through this newsletter, you'll find information and registration links for our monthly meetings, Peer Support Group, and Lunch & Learn sessions through September. We've also included self-care resources, local training opportunities, and current job listings.

Finally, we are proud to announce the launch of our CHW Professional Development Training Program, which begins in October. Be sure to check out the details and registration information included in this newsletter.

Thank you for all that you do to strengthen and empower the Community Health Worker workforce. Together, we continue to build healthier communities across Maine.

Self-Care Tip

Is Apple Picking a Good Form of Exercise?

Yes — apple picking can be a gentle, enjoyable form of exercise that benefits heart health, muscles, flexibility, and mental well-being.

What is self-care? Self-care means taking the time to do things that help you live well and improve both your physical, health, and mental health. When it comes to your mental health, self-care can help you manage stress, lower your risk of illness, and increase your energy. Even small acts of self-care in your daily life can have a big impact.
