WHO:   The Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA) in partnership with the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, Aging and Adult Services Administration, Eastern Market and LaGrasso Bros., a family owned and operated produce market, DAAA will distribute fresh fruit and vegetables boxes curbside to seniors in need.

WHAT:   The USDA Farmers to Families Food Box program utilizes locally sourced products and is a win-win for farmers and Michigan families. The Michigan Aging and Adult Services Agency connected Area Agencies on Agings with local fruit and vegetable distributors. LaGrasso Bros, a local vendor will supply fruits and vegetables for DAAA’s curbside pick-up for senior’s ages 60+ in need.

WHEN 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 21, 2020.

WHERE:   The Historic Trinity Lutheran Church located at 1345 Gratiot Avenue, Detroit, MI 48207 , parking lot.  Drivers are to remain inside their car and allow volunteers to place boxes into the trunk of the vehicle.  

WHY:    Ronald S. Taylor, President, and CEO of DAAA believes we have a battle to win against COVID-19, and for many seniors, food is the first line of defense. As a community, we will be stronger, together, as we work through this turning point in our nation’s history.
