CALL TO  EXEMPT  TAXI DRIVERS FROM CONGESTION PRICING

New York, NY-- Today, at 2:00pm, Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, Chairman of the Transportation Committee, will be joined by other Council Members, Advocates, and Taxi Drivers to calling on the Governor to exempt them from congestion pricing. The Taxi industry has been beset by a financial crisis that has seen the price of medallions and ridership numbers plummet. Congestion pricing will only exacerbate the difficulties of already struggling taxi drivers.  

The Press Conference will happen an hour before the Committees on Finance and Transportation hear the testimony of the Chairman and CEO of the MTA, Patrick J. Foye. The hearing is in regards to the Metropolitan Transit Authority's budget and the priorities for the years to come.
