 COVID-19 Relief Package:  Transportation Bill Hearing
(Open City Streets During  COVID-19 Pandemic)  
 
New York, NY--  Tomorrow, Friday, April 24th, Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, Chairman of the Transportation Committee will be joined by Speaker Corey Johnson, Council Member Carlina Rivera, and the Transportation Committee as they hold a hearing on Intro. 1933.  On Wednesday, April 22nd, Council Member Rivera, Speaker Johnson, and Transportation Chair Rodriguez introduced Intro.1933 which  would require the Department of Transportation ("DOT") to provide additional street space to pedestrians and cyclists on no less than 75 centerline miles of streets while COVID-19 social distancing requirements are in place. Such space would be created through the implementation of shared streets or the closure of at least one lane on a street to vehicular traffic.
