Everett, WA -- In honor of Native American Heritage Month, Imagine Children's Museum is excited to welcome Indigenous children's book author, artist and musician Sondra Segundo to read fom her new book, Kúndlaan: The Wolf Pup with Moonlight in Her Eyes on Saturday, November 4, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Segundo is a local artist who comes from a long line of Alaskan Haida Raven Clan Matriarchs. Kúndlaan is among the first children’s book to be published entirely in Haida (Xaat K\xedl), a critically endangered Alaska Native language. For thousands of years the Haida language was passed down exclusively through song and oral tradition. Recently, a Haida alphabet was developed, making this book possible. The illustrated book weaves in Haida words as a way to introduce young people to the unique sounds and meaning of the language.

During her visit, Segundo will read her new book, sing traditional songs, and lead a kid-friendly formline art lesson, where children can learn how to draw the wolf-pup Kúndlaan, the title character of her new children's book.

There will be related art activities throughout the day in the Art Hangout.

Celebrate Our World activities are included with Museum admission.

Imagine Children’s Museum got a massive expansion late last year; a $25 million dollar, three-story addition which doubled the size of the original space. That’s right, doubled the size!
