DBI INVITES RESIDENTS TO ATTEND HANDS-ON EMERGENCY
TRAINING SESSIONS AT
EARTHQUAKE SAFETY FAIR ON JUNE 11
Try the Quake Cottage to Experience a Major Earthquake
San Francisco residents, property and business owners are invited
to attend hands-on emergency training sessions at 2019
Earthquake Safety Fair hosted by the Department of Building Inspection
June 11 starting at 11 a.m. at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (99 Grove Street, SF CA 94102).
The 30-minute training sessions will be offered throughout the day, from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. DBI's community partners, Community Youth Center and the Self-Help for the Elderly, will provide each attendee hands-on experience on how to prepare themselves and family for an emergency
, with as-needed language services offered in Chinese, Spanish, and Tagalog. Individuals wishing to participate in these trainings can sign up on the day of the event.
The following topics will be covered:
- Compression-only CPR & Choking
- Controlling External Bleeding (w/ Rolling Bandages & Tourniquet)
- 72-Hour Earthquake Response
- Earthquake Mitigation Tips
In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to try the Quake Cottage simulator parked in front of the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, and experience what an 8.0 earthquake feels like first-hand. It will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on a first come, first served basis.

About the Earthquake Safety Fair
The Earthquake Safety Fair will also feature an exhibitor hall of contractors, design professionals, community and government partners, and five informative workshops. Attendees will be able to speak with various City agencies, contractors, design professionals, and financial resources to assist them with their building permit and earthquake safety questions.
