On April 23, more than 90 scholars at Rochester Early College International High School will have an opportunity to engage in a dialogue with NASA scientist Dr. Jill Tarter. Early College science teacher Lisa Englert made the connection with Dr. Tarter and arranged the skype event, where Dr. Tarter will introduce students to global perspectives of the STEM fields.
World-class astronomer Jill Tarter is a pioneer in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI), as well as the co-founder and retired director of the SETI Institute. Her life and work have served as inspiration for a new generation of women in science, including many at the SETI Institute. Dr. Tarter focuses on increasing the number of young women who are interested in the STEM fields and speaks with scholars to help bring about an awareness of its many possibilities.
