COUNCIL MEMBER RODRIGUEZ, DRIVERS, ADVOCATES CALL ON NYC COUNCIL TO PASS INTRO 304: TASK FORCE TO STUDY PRICES OF TAXI-CAB MEDALLIONS

ednesday, November 14, 2018, outside City Hall, Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez will be joined by co-sponsors and advocates of Intro. 304, to encourage the City Council to approve said bill to establish a task force that will study the sales prices of taxi-cab medallions. The legislation aims to address the ongoing crisis affecting medallion owners that escalated last summer when values plummeted to historical lows.
The task force will include nine members with varying degrees of expertise or experience related to the taxi-cab industry and city entities. The objective of the task force is to evaluate the changes in the for-hire vehicle economy by reviewing past and future sales prices of taxi-cab medallions and provide recommendations six months after the formation of the task force. The study will also focus on how the fluctuation in the sales prices of the medallions affects the city's budget.
