Enrico Fermi School No. 17 has been working with community partners to open a new greenhouse on the school's campus. Students will be able to learn and participate in the operation of the greenhouse. They will also learn about how plants and vegetables grow, and how they can live a greener lifestyle.
This project has already received an outpouring of financial and logistical support from several area community organizations including representatives from the JOSANA neighborhood, the Charles House Neighbors in Action, Coordinated Care Services, Inc., and Cornell Cooperative Extension, among many others.
Strawberries and other plants have already sprouted with help from the staff at Cornell Cooperative Extension. United Way volunteers have already helped to plant and build flowerbeds inside the greenhouse.
