PEORIA, IL (April 21, 2025) –– The Peoria Park District has been celebrating Earth Month throughout April with events and activities highlighting the community’s connection to nature and the District’s commitment to environmental sustainability. As Earth Day approaches, the celebration continues with a final series of events inviting the public to come together in appreciation of our planet.

Join Peoria Park District staff and volunteers for a community tree planting at Donovan Park. The park was officially accredited as an arboretum in 2023 and continues to grow its living collection of trees for public enjoyment, education, and conservation. This hands-on event is an opportunity to give back to the earth and support long-term urban canopy efforts right here in Peoria.

Celebrate Earth Day with a free, family-friendly festival at Forest Park Nature Center. Enjoy live music, eco-friendly vendors, nature-themed crafts and activities, guided hikes, food trucks, and more! This beloved annual event encourages the community to learn about sustainability and discover how to be better stewards of our environment.
In addition to these marquee events, Earth Month fun is happening all across the Peoria Park District! From themed Open Art Studio and Nature Niños sessions at the PlayHouse to hands-on conservation activities like garlic mustard pulls and litter clean-ups at Forest Park Nature Center, there's something for everyone. Families can explore migratory birds on a guided hike, get creative with Earth Day crafts, or join a special flower pot activity during Tot Time. The Peoria Park District protects over 1,600 acres of nature preserve land and is proud to offer programs and events that foster environmental awareness and action.
