Subject: Bank Robbery / Officer-Involved Shooting

Location: 600 Block of Madison Ave.


COVINGTON, KY- Covington Police responded to an armed robbery at the U.S. Bank in Covington, during which a suspect was located, and shots were fired. Investigators remain on scene.


At around 3:01 p.m., officers were called to the U.S. Bank in the 600 block of Madison Avenue for a reported armed robbery where a gun was displayed. Responding officers encountered a man matching the suspect's description less than a block from the bank and attempted to detain him. During the encounter, shots were fired.


The suspect was taken to U.C. Medical Center by ambulance where he remains in serious condition. No officers were injured and there is no threat to the public. Following protocol, the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team (CERT) has been called to conduct an independent investigation. Per department policy, the two officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
