Subject: Collision/I-75 Interstate Closure

Location: I-75 South, Brent Spence Bridge


COVINGTON, KY- Early this morning at around 3:44 a.m. Covington Police responded to a report of a head-on collision on the Brent Spence Bridge's upper deck. Police and fire were forced to shut down the southbound lanes for rescue and cleanup.


The investigation revealed a 16-year-old male was driving the first car. The juvenile driver was heavily intoxicated and entered I-75 South going the wrong way from the 5th Street exit ramp. Upon reaching the upper deck of the bridge, he had a head-on collision with another car. The juvenile's car had five occupants inside. Four of the five occupants were taken to various hospitals for injuries ranging from minor injuries to broken bones. The car the juvenile was driving was owned by Alexis Truett, 18, of Hamilton, Ohio. Truett was one of the passengers and has been charged with complicity to Assault 2nd, Wanton Endangerment 1st, Criminal Mischief 1st, and Providing a Motor Vehicle to a Drunk/Drug Addict. Officers are seeking a pick-up order charging the juvenile driver with Assault 2nd, Wanton Endangerment 1st, Criminal Mischief 1st, DUI-Aggravated (1st Offense), Possessing an Open Alcohol Container in a Vehicle, and Operating a Vehicle on a Suspended License.


The victim in the second car was taken to St. Elizabeth with minor injuries and is expected to recover.
