Location: I-75S - Brent Spence Bridge


COVINGTON, KY- Covington Police are investigating after a man jumped into the river from the upper deck of the Brent Spence Bridge and died.


At around 7:14 a.m., patrol officers were assisting a motorist with a disabled vehicle on the upper (I-75 southbound) deck of the Brent Spence Bridge in the right lane. Without warning, the driver of the disabled vehicle abruptly went to the side of the bridge and jumped into the river.


The man did not survive the fall and was recovered from the river by the Covington Fire Department. The victim's actions appear intentional, but detectives are investigating the incident.


The victim is identified as Austin Skirvin, 30, of Florence. Our condolences are with the family.
