FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

From: Capt. Justin Bradbury

Date: October 17, 2025

Time of Release: 1010 Hrs

Subject: Officer-Involved Collision

Location: I-71/75 Northbound, MM 191

COVINGTON, KY- Overnight, a Covington Police Officer was injured in a Collision while assisting a motorist on I-75/71 North at the 191-mile marker.

Last night, at around 10:52 p.m., a Covington officer was in his cruiser with emergency lights activated, blocking the right lane for a disabled vehicle. Another car struck his cruiser from behind, pushing it nearly 150 feet. The officer was transported to St. Elizabeth Covington, treated for minor injuries, and has since been released.

The driver of the striking vehicle was taken to UC Medical Center with a broken leg. She is in stable condition. While no charges have been filed at this time, the incident remains under investigation to determine whether alcohol, drugs, or speed played a role.

We want to remind all motorists that Kentucky law requires drivers to move over or slow down when approaching emergency vehicles on the interstate. Doing so protects first responders, other motorists, and yourself. Please drive safely!

Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.

Respectfully,

Captain Justin Bradbury
