ADDITIONAL WAKE UP BUFFALO

TIMBER BAY

Thursday, October 8th 8:00 a.m.

2362 County Road 35 W (park by shop)

Timber Bay has been supporting youth in the Buffalo area for 30 years (see their anniversary celebration below). During this time they have used many spaces for their large group meeting times, one-on-one mentoring and small group gatherings. They now have been given an opportunity to purchase a space that would be ideal to facilitate the work they do with their struggling youth.

Come hear more about what they do and see the space they hope to call home for the next 30 years!

Also - if you have job openings let us know! We can help you post on our website and I can list here as well!

BUC BUCKS WINNERS DRAWN

BUC Bucks were the Buffalo Under Construction (BUC) cards sold to our community members for $5 each. Listed on the cards were 14 businesses that gave an incentive to come shop! The Chamber sold 119 cards and used the funds to go back to the participating businesses and buy $40 worth of gift cards, which these two lucky ladies won in the name draw. Meet Melanie Nord and Cassie Koehn who now can continue to support our local businesses - a win/win all around!

Thank you to all of you who were intentional about supporting all the businesses effected by the construction this summer. We know there is more to come and some finishing work to be done in the spring, but thanks to you the businesses survived!

ONE OF THE BEST WAYS TO KICK OFF THE NEW YEAR!

We are jumping on this early this year to be sure we give everyone ample time to fill the seats! This will be our 5th year of hosting this joint event with the I-94 Chamber and JB Group to bring you powerhouse speakers. This is a great opportunity to build your skill set, bring your team and show that you care and network with other businesses outside of our membership. It's about personal and professional growth!

"Choosing to Soar" is about weathering life's challenges, "Fuel Your Purpose" is about living with intention for yourself and your team and "Fearless" is about making fearless choices to be the most successful person you can be!

YOUth RISING

Kristin Kruger of HealthSource has started an initiative focused on the health and wellness of our youth! It is called YOUth Rising. She shared information at our Wake Up Buffalo last week, so thought you all might want to know:

YOUth Rising is a newly formed non-profit organization whose main goal is to improve the overall wellness of our youth in the community. Their main pillars of focus are healthy tech habits, nutrition and whole-child health, and social and emotional wellbeing. They have recently formed a youth committee consisting of approximately 16 middle and high schoolers who provide insight into the challenges they see within their own lives and community in regards to mental, physical and emotional health.

There are several meaningful ways you or your team can get involved:

  • Space & Venue Sharing: If you are hosting (or would like to host with us) youth workshops, fitness classes, or mentorship programs already, we'd love to hear about it and possibly partner. Our goal is to provide our youth with safe places to engage, connect, learn new life skills, and move their bodies! Providing a free or reduced-rate meeting room, warehouse, or outdoor event space makes a massive difference.

  • Professional Resources & Mentorship: Youth understand wellness best when they see real-world examples. If your staff or other professionals, or even your own family can volunteer to lead educational workshops or mentor local youth, we'd love to hear your ideas.

  • Strategic Partnerships & Collaborations: Let’s co-host community wellness events, cooking class, 5K walks, or family fitness days that promote healthy habits while highlighting your business’s commitment to the neighborhood.

  • Financial Support & Sponsorships: Direct donations fuel our daily operations and expand our program reach. You can also sponsor specific youth wellness initiatives, sports/play equipment drives, etc.

  • Grant & Funding Opportunities: If your organization hosts a foundation or offers corporate social responsibility (CSR) grants, we would love to learn more about how our mission aligns with your funding priorities. If you know of an organization in which you think would be a great avenue for us to pursue grants and funding, we'd love to hear about it!

Here is the link to our temporary YOUth Rising Landing Site that gives you more info about who we are and outlines current support options while our website is being developed.  We are currently working under the Buffalo Strong tax ID until ours is completed, so if donations are made, just know that it will be designated to YOUth Rising.  You may also follow us on YOUth Rising Facebook to learn more ways to improve you and your family's wellness! To contact us directly, you can simply email us at:  youthrising@buffalostrong.org.
