straight year, Meijer is supporting ARISE Detroit! Neighborhoods Day, this time coming aboard as Title Sponsor for the 14
th
annual rendition of the citywide event on Aug. 1.
“At time when many nonprofit groups are struggling to obtain resources from traditional funders because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this support is truly appreciated,” said Luther Keith, executive director of ARISE Detroit! “The funding and other resources will help contribute to the success of Neighborhoods Day and support the efforts of thousands of Detroiters across the city.”

Meijer has two stores in Detroit, one on Grand River and another on Eight Mile, and has announced plans for a third store in downtown Detroit.
ARISE Detroit! is providing
Meijer
gift certificates
and
hand sanitizers
to registered neighborhood groups. The gift certificates can be used to purchase water or other materials for Neighborhoods Day. In addition, the company is providing
child chalk packages
for young people who might want to have chalk games on Neighborhoods Day as well
child sunglasses.
“We are encouraging community groups that expect to have child activities to register so we can supply these materials for their events,” Keith said. “Since we are encouraging groups to do events around the home, this kind of support is truly helpful.”
Other sponsors for Neighborhoods Day include the Kresge Foundation, Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Acension Health.
