COVID-19 and Upcoming Chamber Events
March 13, 2020, HALIBURTON HIGHLANDS, ON
– Due to the evolving situation with the COVID-19 Pandemic, and our desire to keep our communities safe, the Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce has made the difficult decision to postpone its upcoming events in April, May and June, or until further information is received from public health officials.
With recent announcements around school, camp and event cancellations, there was a recognition that this will have significant impact on our membership and our local productivity in the coming weeks. As such, the Chamber is postponing its Annual Business and Community Achievement Awards until a later date, which will be released to the public as soon as is reasonably possible.
The Chamber remains open for business, and we would like to encourage everyone to utilize emails or telephone calls over in-person meetings with us until further notice.
The Chamber also wants to underscore the impact that wide-spread panic could have on our local economy and encourage members of the public to heed the advice of our public health authorities for the most appropriate precautions. The Chamber wishes to keep our community, volunteers and staff safe while supporting our local enterprises and businesses.
The risk to the general public in Haliburton County remains low, with no reported cases in our County. We encourage everyone to continue with practical steps like eliminating handshakes, maintaining hygiene through proper handwashing, and continuing to monitor the situation as reported by the public health authorities. If you are experiencing symptoms identified by Health Canada regarding the virus, please refrain from attending any public gathering; and take necessary steps to get tested, as needed.
The Chamber will remain open for its regularly scheduled office hours at this time. Lastly, we will continue to closely monitor and assess new developments pertaining to COVID-19 and will be regularly engaging with our membership to best understand their needs as we collectively work through this challenging period.
The Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce has over 270 active member organizations that believe in economic and business success across the Haliburton Highlands.
