MENA Clean Energy Month in Review

Roundup by the GM
Dear Members and Colleagues

The clean energy sector is steadily gaining momentum in the region - earlier this year Saudi Arabia announced a tender to build two solar-power plants in Al-Jouf and Rafha which will generate as much as 50MW using PV technology, with the list of prequalified entities released last month.
Jordan is looking to award around 500 MW of solar in 2017.  Massader, the infrastructure development arm of the Palestine Investment Fund is developing a 35MW solar PV program which will be the largest plant in Palestine, and this month Kuwait began operating its first ever solar power plant which will produce 10 MW of electricity, in line with its plans to generate 15% of its energy needs via renewable sources by 2030.
In Dubai, DEWA venture Etihad ESCO will join the ranks implementing solar rooftop schemes to support the Shams Dubai initiative to put solar panels on every rooftop across the Emirate by 2030.
CEBC extends a special thanks to Faisal Ali Hassan Rashid, Director Demand Side Management at Dubai Supreme Council of Energy for addressing our Energy Efficiency workshop as keynote speaker.  This month CEBC was proud to support the Dubai Solar Show as Knowledge Partner  to present the Solar Show Seminar week, and our next event will be our flagship 5th Annual MENA Clean Energy Summit in December which will focus on upscaling clean energy and solar power for the MENA region.
Wishing you a great month ahead.
