March, has indeed been an eventful month for our Industry in the region.
Befittingly, our April Newsletter brings you some highlights from these events.

The MENALAC LEA CEO Conclave 2019 started with a keynote address by Bill Ernest, CEO of Saudi Entertainment Ventures (SEVEN) on Saudi’s bold and audacious plans for making the kingdom an Attractions Hub in the Middle East and SEVEN’s role in it, followed by important presentations and engaging panel discussions on the latest trends and opportunities, relayed by an impressive line-up of speaker and panelist, comprising leading operators and suppliers.

This was followed by MENALAC’s Safety Day Conference 2019 where the latest in safety rules, regulations and accreditation shared by Government authorities and global leaders in safety was well attended by the industry.

The DEAL 2019 Show celebrated its 25 th Anniversary and we bring you the views of 2 International manufacturers and suppliers - Apple Industries and LAI who have benefited immensely from their participation over the years. A testimony of the business opportunities that this region offers.

The MENALAC SAFETY CONFERENCE 2019

MENALAC’s SAFETY CONFERENCE 2019 brought together an interesting mix of safety experts ranging from Government Accreditation Authority EIAC, global experts on attractions safety TUV SUD, safety technology platform experts AUXEL and waterpark designers Whitewater.
Top operator teams and safety firms attended and avidly learned about the latest in Safety, revision in standards, using technology to help detect and preempt safety lapses and about the ‘Safer by Design’ methodology.

DEAL TURNS 25
while earning a strong endorsement from its exhibitors
DEAL concluded its 25th anniversary edition with multi-million dollar worth of business reported to have been conducted over the show floor. The special show saw 300+ exhibitors from close to 40 countries vie for the thousands of visitors that came from over 100 plus countries. This year saw the many new technology companies including drones, robotics, VR, holographic arcade games that enthralled and captivated the Middle East audience.

SERVICE ROBOTS ALL OVER THE EXHIBITION FLOOR
The Silver Anniversary edition of DEAL saw the exhibition run over with robots from Resus Digital. They launched the new robot photographer & waitress from servicerobots.com. The Robot Photographer, Robot Waitress which are fully autonomous and can roam around and take photos, whilst interacting with guests.

Aimed to highlight and honor excellence across 21 categories in the MENA leisure and attraction industry, MENALAC Awards received over 100 entries from leisure operations in the region. The best theme parks, water parks, FEC's, visitor attractions as well as the best industry practices and operational managers have battled it through to win glory and recognition in their specific categories announced on the night of the awards. Eighty Dubai fire-fighters converged on Jumble, the Landmark Leisure indoor adventure park…but not to fight fires. The venue was playing host to the Dubai Civil Defence forces for a team-building exercise.
Joint teams from fire stations and the emirate’s Strategy and Future departments apparently thoroughly enjoyed their corporate event, a three-hour Jumble session in which they divided into 20 teams representing their respective fire centres to compete with one-another.   Read more
