Focus on Saudi Arabia MENALAC Networking Evener
The first major event in Saudi Arabia for the FECs business was hosted by the country’s largest operator, the Al Hokair Group for Tourism and Development in Riyadh. The two-day conference – that will become an annual event – was run by the Middle East and North Africa Leisure and Attractions Council (MENALAC).
The conference – in accordance with the composition of MENALAC also took in amusement parks, tourist attractions and water parks – was designed to address all aspects of the entertainment and attractions sector. As a major market, Saudi featured strongly with reviews of its development, its current status and future challenges.
Those include both opportunities and trends plus of course the huge opening market for cinemas in the kingdom. The sessions also addressed the major area of safety, particularly with rides. There was an accent on safety standards in other entertainment facilities too. Read more
Batman: Knight Flight takes off at Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi
When Warner Bros World opened in July, it was noticeable that not all of the rides were running. But luckily now thrill seekers can check out Batman: Knight Flight, one of the signature rides in the Gotham City zone of the theme park. The ride invites guests to a job fair at Wayne Tech headquarters but is interrupted when a crime spree puts Gotham City in danger. Guest are then recruited by Batman to be test pilots for the prototype of an ultimate urban patrol vehicle in which riders will be launched out of the Batcave to help chase bad guys. Read more
Tekzone – Kuwait’s new future-proof FEC concept by KCC
A new FEC in Kuwait has been described by the Belgian company that designed it as “the world’s newest, innovative family entertainment concept for shopping malls.”
Since opening in June, Tekzone at the Avenues Mall has drawn almost twice as many visitors as expected. The 4,500 square metre indoor entertainment centre was imagineered and built for its developer, MH Alshaya, by KCC Entertainment Design. Read more

A new futuristic approach to children’s play has opened at the Mall of Umm Al Quwain, in the UAE.
Orange Hub is an FEC that specialises in state-of-the-art technology, introducing the very latest in top-line games and attractions. Already open in Abu Dhabi, Orange Hub opened its new venue in the country’s most northerly emirate on October 20. Read more
DEAL ’19 already 78% sold out
There is a surge in demand for the latest FEC concepts due to the expansion of billion dollar malls and also the theme park industry in the Middle East.
This has had an effect on the DEAL 2019 (Dubai Entertainment, Amusement, and Leisure show) bookings and it is 78 per cent percent sold out just a few months before the grand industry event. The 25th anniversary edition of the DEAL show is set to run from March 25 to 27 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Read more
