Glittering night for awards
A setting and organisation that would not have been out of place in Hollywood… the Middle East amusement and entertainment industry’s own “Oscars” night was a triumph for the people who evidently worked hard to stage it.
Nine independent judges from the industry chose winners from over 70 entries in different categories of the leisure, entertainment and attractions business in the Middle East. The entries came from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Kuwait and were fiercely contested. Read more
DEAL 2019

The 25th silver anniversary edition of the DEAL trade show in Dubai – one of the amusement industry’s major international events – will open on a Sunday for the first time.
This week the organizer, International Expo-Consults released the dates concluded after lengthy discussions with the venue, the World Trade Centre in Dubai. The show will run from Sunday March 24 to 26, over two weeks earlier than its 2018 dates (April 9-11). Read more

Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi to open on 25 July
Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, a $1bn indoor theme park developed by Miral on Yas Island in the UAE, will open to visitors on 25 July.
The announcement was made by Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of Miral, during a media tour.  Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi  will be the largest indoor theme park in the world at 153,000sqm when it opens and has been in development for seven years. Read more
Laguna Waterpark to open at La Mer in May

If you’ve visited La Mer recently, you’ve probably noticed a whole lot of construction going on at the end of the promenade.
That’s because an epic waterpark is being built there – and it’s set to open its gates very soon. Laguna Waterpark will feature a water slide complex with five main rides, as well as a pool lounge, children’s zone and lazy river. There will also be direct beach access, and cabanas.   Read more
Look: Flooded cinema to open in UAE?
Waterpark operator shares more details of the UAE's first five-dimensional cinema that is set to open this summer.
Theme parks are investing in new technologies to bring customer experience to another level, and the latest to be introduced to consumers in the UAE is a cinema that is best experienced wearing a swimsuit. Yas Waterworld in Abu Dhabi has confirmed that the new five-dimensional (5D) theatre that will be opening this summer will be the first of its kind in the region: it will immerse viewers in water. Construction of Saudi Arabia’s Qiddiya entertainment city to start tomorrow
Construction of Qiddiya, a 334 sqkm entertainment and leisure destination near Riyadh that will feature theme parks, a safari park and a motor sports facility, is due to start tomorrow.
Saudi King Salman will launch construction of the “entertainment city” at a ceremony on Wednesday.  Qiddiya was first announced  in April 2017 and  Six Flags  recently signed an agreement to develop, design and license a Six Flags-branded park for the destination.

Both developments to be ready by fourth quarter of 2019, operator confirms.
DXB Entertainments, the operator of Dubai Parks and Resorts, said that it is on track to deliver its new developments — a Six Flags theme park and a Legoland Hotel — in the fourth quarter of 2019. Read more
Cinepolis to Open Movie Theaters in Saudi Arabia
The Arab nation recently announced it was lifting a 35-year ban on cinemas.
Mexico's Cinepolis, the world's fourth largest exhibitor, has announced plans to crack Saudi Arabia's untapped and potentially highly lucrative cinema market. Read more
