Please join us in welcoming one of MERIT's newest members, Japp Construction.

Gavin Japp, Owner of Japp Construction , began the company in August 2008 in Medicine Hat. He began as a labourer then started his own company working on smaller jobs such as stairs, basements, and decks. In 2010, Gavin moved the company to Saskatoon and the business began to grow.

Typical projects for Japp Construction include residential framing but in recent years they have been able to take on bigger projects. One of their most unique projects was subbing on The Barn at Winds Edge project. Last year they built 20,000 square feet of townhouses on Avenue O in Saskatoon in a 3 month period. They also recently completed an 11,000 square foot medical clinic Red Earth.

Gavin decided to join MERIT because he had been looking for better incentives to offer his employees. Gavin feels lucky for the good crew that he has been able to develop over the years and wanted to show his appreciation by offering a benefit plan. Japp Construction currently has 5 employees which include 2 site foremen and 3 labourers.

Gavin chose MERIT because we offer so much more than other benefit companies including advocacy and training. Japp Construction is currently in the process of becoming COR certified and he would like to encourage his team to continue to expand their training and knowledge of construction.
