Saskatchewan Heavy Construction Association (SHCA) and their generous members gave back in a big way to Ronald McDonald House Charities Saskatchewan(RMHC-SK) this spring!
SHCA, along with Ritchie Bros Auctioneers hosted a live charity auction during the SHCA Annual Convention to give back to the community. This year the choice to give to the RMHC-SK was quick, easy and personal. One of their members, Craig Slobodian, from Redhead Equipment has a daughter, Mya, who was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Tricia, Mya’s mom and Mya stayed in the RMH for nearly 2 months as Mya went through radiation treatments. She has come out on the other side and is now in remission!  Mya’s strength and selfless generosity during an extremely challenging time along with the help of her family has been an inspiration to all. Mya gave up birthday presents, fundraised and donated over $10,000 prior to the auction.
In total SHCA donated $105,675 ! The largest third party donation made to RMHC-SK. As a result of the large donation, the RMH has dedicated a room to Mya and named it after the SHCA for the next 3 years. The SHCA also bought a large number of ‘Mya Wish Bracelets’ to give to other children who have to stay in the RMH. The bracelets tie on and once they fall off they are supposed to help your wishes come true.
Merit is elated to be affiliated with the Saskatchewan Heavy Construction Association and their members
in the spirit of giving and inspiring!
