Please join your fellow rising Kindergarten friends at the park for popsicles and fun! We'll have color coded name tags for adults and kids so you can find your classmates.

Back-to-School Bash is Atlanta Public Schools' flagship event that provides FREE backpacks, school supplies, and resources to APS students and their families!

Monday August 1st - First Day of School
- Depending on your child, it may be appropriate for Kinder, 1st grade, and new MES parent/guardians to escort the student to the classroom on the first day.
- If you'd like, you can join the MES Administrators in the MES Gym at 7:50 AM for the return of Coffee and Kleenex as you send your student back to school!
School Day Times:
- School Hours - 7:45 am - 2:45 pm
- Doors Open - 7:15 am
- School Starts/Tardy Bell - 7:45 am

Notify School of Change in Dismissal (via PikMyKid app) - 2:00 pm
- Dismissal - 2:45 pm
Wednesday, August 3rd - MES Parent Orientation
- This optional, virtual meeting is open to all MES parents (new and returning) to learn more about how MES is handling several issues that have been front of mind for many parents this summer. Topics will include information about the school safety plan (in light of recent tragic events in the country), ongoing pandemic mitigation approaches, and the importance of strengthening parent/teacher partnerships.
- A zoom link to attend this session will be sent directly to MES parents via the Campus Messenger Parent Portal text and email system. This session will also be recorded for those who cannot attend.
Friday, August 5th - Kindergarten Parent Welcome
- Please join us for this special session tailored to kindergarten parents/guardians. There will be a special visit from the teachers, as well as helpful information and lots of time for questions and answers!
- This event will be hosted in the MES Auditorium.

New Spirit Wear and Merchandise!!
We have new spirit wear designs and lots of new merchandise (t-shirts, hoodies, gym shorts, sweatpants, and more) to show your MES pride! Our new spirit wear website will be open for orders starting Friday, July 29th - Monday, August 8th.
Even more exciting news - there is now an option to have orders shipped directly to your home! All orders will be sent to either your home or the school approximately 20 days after the shop closes on August 8th. Please visit our booth at the MES Meet & Greet to see samples or place your orders directly through the MES website!

Don't Forget to...

Update your family's information in the MES Family Directory and select your child's teacher for this school year! To receive future Digital Dolphins and volunteer for roles like class parent, you will need to go in and create or reactivate your account for this school year.

Complete your school transportation action items, including submitting your MES Transportation Form and downloading both the PikMyKid and Here Comes the Bus apps. All of the links you need are on the linked website.

Make a plan for your first day of school drop off, including reviewing the "dot system" for easy navigation to the classrooms in Principal Sofianos' blog post.

Join the PTA - lots more info to come on how you can get involved but go ahead and solidify your membership!

AM Drop-off Reminders

While we love our furry friends, there are no pets allowed on APS property.
- Please do not block any driveways in the neighborhood at all. (Even with the tail end of your car!!!).
- Please do NOT turn into the carpool lane from Greencove Ave. onto Virginia. Please queue up in the back of the line on Virginia Ave.
