FIRST DAY FOR STUDENTS—TUESDAY, AUGUST 18, 2026

On behalf of the entire Marshall Elementary staff, we hope everyone is having a safe and relaxing summer break. We are excited for the children to return to MES! Each year, we work extremely hard to achieve our vision of being a premier school that inspires excellence in academics, arts, and activities for every student every day.
North Allegheny’s educational program is rooted in our community’s respect for the dignity and integrity of all students and families. Our shared mission guides this principle, preparing all students for success in a changing world.
On Thursday, August 6, your child’s 2026-2027 classroom assignment will be available online. If you are unable to see your child’s placement in PowerSchool by the evening of Friday, August 7, please contact the main office. Our Marshall Elementary teachers worked diligently throughout this process to make the best placement decision for each child. They met several times in the spring and summer, recognizing the need to consider peer interactions, special services, individual student needs, and learning styles.
As always, we thank our MES families for working together to build a positive school culture. It is going to be another great school year, and we look forward to seeing all our MES families at the Back-to-School Social on Tuesday, August 18!

The Marshall Elementary Handbook is designed to provide you with the information you need about our school’s procedures, programs, and activities. Please use this handbook for guidance and reference throughout the academic year. Once you read through the information, please contact the school’s office if you have any specific questions.
A handbook and code of conduct sign-off form will be available the week of August 3 in PowerSchool. Please sign off that you have reviewed and understand the handbook and NASD Code of Conduct. Completing this PowerSchool form will ensure that you have access to PowerSchool to view schedules on the release date.

Our school’s open house is an excellent opportunity to have an informal visit with your child’s teachers. Additional information will be sent as we get closer to the event.

You can view our Marshall Elementary Suggested School Supply List online. Once your child’s teacher is assigned, they may also reach out to you with specific classroom supply needs.

BUS ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE AVAILABLE IN PowerSchool

Student bus assignments will be available in PowerSchool on August 6, 2026, by approximately 6:00 PM.
- To locate your student’s bus assignment, log into PowerSchool, locate the navigation menu, and select the Transportation Info button (which features a yellow school bus icon). From there, you’ll be presented with your student’s transportation information, including times and address intersections.

- Drivers are testing routes at the end of July/early August, which may result in a change to your student's bus assignment.
- If your student's transportation is provided by a non-NASD transportation company, you will be contacted separately with the bus assignment.

You can submit a ticket to:
- Report on-time bus issues
- Request changes to your student's bus stop
- Report lost items left on the bus
- Access Application for Alternate Bus Stop; Bus Stop Change Request Form; Shared Custody Form
If you have questions about bus assignments, visit the NA Transportation Department website, and be sure to review the School Bus Safety Tips with your student.

BUS TAGS
The bus tag(s) were mailed to each household. If you did not receive anything in the mail by August 12, please call the MES main office.
The colors used are:
- Kindergarten – Orange
- Grade 1 – White
- Grade 2 – Red
- Grade 3 – Green
- Grade 4 – Blue
- Grade 5 – Yellow
Please complete the bus tag and attach it to your child’s backpack. This will help us direct children to the correct homeroom or bus.
| | If your child requires medication during the school day, please see the North Allegheny School District Medication Policy. You will also be able to print the necessary District paperwork. The nurse is available for medication drop-off for the 26-27 school year on August 6, 2026, from 9:30 to 11:30 am and 1:30-3:00 pm. | |
October 9 & 10, 2026
MES Grade 5 students will participate in our Camp Kon-O-Kwee outdoor educational experience on October 8 & 9, 2026. Students have the OPTION for the overnight experience OR a day-only (October 8) experience. More information will be shared by the Grade 5 team once school starts!
