Mansfield Elementary School Association Newsletter
Join us on Friday, May 12th at the Guild in Pawtucket for a fun night of live music & dancing, food trucks & desserts and some
amazing auction items and raffle prizes! All proceeds go to programs that support
students and teachers in Robinson & Jordan/Jackson Elementary Schools.
The MESA Spring Fling raises money to fund critical enrichment activities and programs
not covered by the Mansfield Elementary school budget for the two elementary schools. This includes literacy programs, in-school field trips, teacher appreciation, teacher grants, school improvement initiatives, and much more. In addition, funding supports school social events like the Kindergarten Social, 5th Grade Graduation Celebration, and Hornet Harvest.
Purchasing your tickets online saves you $10 and helps us plan a better event for you!
Online ticket sales will end May 5th. Tickets at the door will be sold for $60.

If you are interested in supporting the MESA Spring Fling, email for sponsorship opportunities and auction donations.

It's Spring Book Fair Time!
Robinson Book Fair

March 27 to 31, 2023
Robinson Gymnasium

The Robinson Book Fair is just one week away. Students will visit the fair with their class during school. If you would like your student to participate, please send in cash or fund an eWallet (keep reading to learn more). There's a lot more than just books at the book fair. While students are encouraged to buy a book, it is good to have a conversation with your child about how you would like them to spend their money.

The fair will be open to the public during parent-teacher conferences:
Thursday, March 30 - Dismissal to 8 pm
Friday, March 31 - Dismissal to 3 pm
Profits from the book fairs are used to purchase books and technology updates for students and our schools. Thank you for supporting our book fairs!
Volunteering at ROB Fair

We need volunteers to help with set-up and clean-up. We will also need help to staff the fair during class visits and our Open to Public shifts. Without enough volunteers not all classes will be able to visit the book fair. Please sign up for a shift if you can!

*It is important that volunteers are available for their entire shift. If you cannot be there the whole time, please email [email protected] and we'll try to work something out! The SignUp Genius indicates which classes will visit during which shift!
CORI Checks

All volunteers must have a valid CORI form on file with Mansfield Public Schools. A link to the CORI form is below:
How to Pay at the Fair
An eWallet is a safe, cashless way for students to shop at the book fair. Simply use the link below to fund your student's eWallet before the fair. Anyone can add money to the account, so share the link with relatives. If you have funds left over from the fall book fair, you must create a NEW eWallet in order to use those funds at this book fair.

Please note: the Robinson book fair is separate from the J/J, so each student will need their own unique eWallet.
Sending money: We understand some families prefer to pay with cash or check. Please send cash in a resealable bag and make checks out to MESA with the monetary limit written in the check's note section if applicable.

MA Sales Tax: There is a change to the book fair this year. Tax will be added to purchases. To make it easy for students, please add funds to cover the amount of tax on the amount you'd like them to spend. MA state sales tax is 6.25%, so $20 = $21.25, $40 = $42.50, $50 = $53.13, etc.

Teacher Appreciation Dinners
MESA will host a Teacher Appreciation Dinner at Robinson on the evening of Thursday, March 30. We are looking for donations of side items, beverages, centerpieces, and paper products. We also need a few people to help with setup and cleanup.

In addition to the dinner, we are reaching out for gift cards and other donations to be used as prizes for a Raffle event during Staff Appreciation Week in May. We are grateful for any help our community can contribute to helping us show our staff our appreciation!

Please click the button below for more information and to sign up.
Thank you for supporting our J/J Teacher Appreciation Dinner last week! Teachers enjoyed a delicious sit-down dinner from Antonia's in Foxboro with lots of yummy treats, side items and beverages generously donated by our families!

MESA Board Meeting
It may be hard to believe, but it's time to start planning for the 2023-24 MESA Board.

Please join us at our next board meeting, Monday, April 3 at 7pm in the Robinson Cafeteria to learn about the open positions.
MESA is run entirely by volunteers. Whether you work full-time, part-time or are a stay-at-home parent, we could use your help!

Here's one of the open positions:
Accounts Payable Treasurer - MESA is looking for a new treasurer to join the board for the 2023-24 school year. Identifying a treasurer now will give the person time to learn the ropes from our current treasurers. If you are interested in learning more please email [email protected]
MESA Spotlight
We will be introducing you to our board and committee members over the next few months!
Meet MESA's Robinson VP, Melissa Gordy
Hi Everyone – My name is Melissa Gordy and I am the VP of the Robinson school for MESA. I have been on the board for 2 years and have enjoyed getting involved in a lot of different aspects of what MESA contributes to –
book fairs, Hornet Harvest, Spring Fling, Mingle with MESA, etc., I also work full-time in risk management but have found MESA to be a creative outlet that also gives back to our community.
My husband, Ryan, and I grew up in Mansfield and love that we are now raising our 2 children in our hometown – our daughter Carter is 7 and our son Miller is 3. We spend a lot of time participating in youth sports, going to the Cape year-round and are looking forward to all the fun summer activities ahead!
I would love to connect with anyone that is interested in participating with MESA (no amount of time is too little) or just as another Mansfield parent!
ABOUT MESA
MESA is the non-profit parent organization of the Robinson and Jordan/Jackson elementary schools. We facilitate fundraising, enrichment, and community building fun for our schools and students. If you have a student at Robinson or J/J, you are automatically a member of MESA.
