CHILDREN & YOUTH
Time To Dig In

Welcome to our new program, Digging into Foundations of Faith.

As we start our new school year we will be Digging into Foundations of Faith. We will be learning what it means to be a Christian. We will explore what the Bible reveals about who God is and how God sees us, how we fit in God’s family, and how we live the Christian life. As we study core concepts of Christianity, we will gain a solid framework for our own relationship with Jesus.

Some of the lessons include: Moses and the Burning Bush (Exodus 3:1-4:17), God Tells Job About His Creation (Job 38039; Psalm 8), and Jesus Feeds 5,000 (Matthew 14:13021).

Please look for the links to weekly lessons in The Messenger and in Leslie's weekly emails.

Confirmation Class of 2020

The new school year is well under way and I hope your student(s) are coping nicely with the challenges of remote learning. I have to admit it has been difficult to be distanced from all the students the last six months. That challenge though, means we must make the most of when we can connect virtually.

Each fall, we do an 8 week Confirmation Class for 8th grade students. I am hoping your student will join us on this exciting journey. The class and process of really exploring what they believe and why is so important for them at this age.

Their thinking process and questioning is maturing and the opportunity for them to "own" their beliefs, or unbeliefs, is something that will give them a base to go from as they continue their spiritual Journey. The class is certainly not an indoctrination but a chance to challenge and explore the Christian faith.

I hope you will discuss the possibility of your student joining the class. I know many times the students start out hesitant but as the class gets going each year all the students enjoy the process and all the discussions they participate in.

Please find an introduction letter and a registration form links below with all the details and dates. As always please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if I can be of any help. I look forward to the class and hope your student will be a part of it.

Wednesday Morning Bible Study

Join Dr. Don Ashburn for a study of the New
Testament Gospel of Mark. We’ll meet weekly online from 10 - 11 am. We’ll be using the Zoom online platform.

In the study, we’ll read the text out loud and then discuss its meaning, its original context as well as how it relates to our lives today.

To participate, you’ll need access to a computer or mobile device with audio and visual capabilities. You can have your own copy of the Bible, or read the text as it’s shared onscreen. There’s no homework, and no expectation that you’ve studied the Bible before.

Just join us, and invite your friends! Contact Dr. Ashburn at [email protected]. The link for joining the Bible Study online is: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82910582013. It’ll be the same link each week.
We are happy to provide online gathering opportunities as we remain 'sheltered in place.'
