SPECIAL TRAVEL REPORT FROM SENIOR CORRESPONDENT
Thanks to the recent nor’easter, METALCON’s own Claire Kilcoyne, got to spend a little extra time getting reacquainted with Vegas and sat down with METALCONnection to share some insight.
MC – You recently stayed at the Westgate Hotel in Vegas, headquarter hotel for METALCON 2017, and we understand it has undergone some recent changes. Please share your observations.
CK – My immediate first impression was the staff - customer service focused and so friendly, especially in the restaurants. Many of the restaurants have been renovated and relocated to a more convenient location in the hotel. The guests rooms have been completely updated along with the pool area giving it more of a resort feel. The ballroom furnishings have also been updated which will be nice for the 2017 Triumph Awards.
MC – With so many hotels to choose from, why should METALCON attendees stay at the Westgate?
CK – The Westgate is adjacent to the Convention Center’s North Halls - that is a slam dunk reason for anyone to stay there! Why wait in taxi lines on the strip in the morning when you can walk to the show in 5 minutes?
MC – What activities can attendees take advantage of during non-show hours?
CK – In Vegas, the possibilities are endless. For me, I prefer the shows. Saw Michael Jackson One which was fantastic! The Westgate Sports Book is touted the best in LV for audio visual quality so it will be an ideal mingling spot for show attendees.
MC – What makes Vegas an ideal location for METALCON 2017?
CK – Everyone loves Las Vegas! The weather will be perfect in October, dining is limitless and the city is easily accessible for attendees coming from all areas of the US.
