This seminar showcased the research of Dr. Meisam Razaviyayn, USC Assistant Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Ali Ghafelebashi, third-year USC Ph.D. student of Industrial Engineering.

METRANS and CITT recently presented a three-part Tech Talk series on the recently piloted certificate program, which was developed in partnership with the CEC and the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz).

USC Viterbi School of Engineering and Price School of Public Policy launched a 4-part seminar series held in February for local high school juniors, which aims to expose under-represented high school students to STEM-related research, emphasizing transportation and freight.

PSR held its third Emerging Scholars Transportation Research Symposium (ESTRS) on March 2 and 3, once again presenting outstanding transportation research conducted by students from diverse disciplines.

The development of autonomous trucking technology inspired Rick Pena to enroll in Pima Community College's Autonomous Vehicle Driver and Operations Specialist Certificate program.
RESEARCH
Making Bicycling Equitable: Lessons from Sociocultural Research
Associate Director of the Feminist Research Institute at the University of California, Davis, Sarah Rebolloso McCullough, Interim Chair of the M.A. program in Urban Sustainability at Antioch University, Adonia Lugo, and UC Davis doctoral researcher Rebecca van Stokkum conducted a PSR-funded research project titled, “Making Bicycling Equitable: Lessons from Sociocultural Research,” that focuses on sociocultural issues of equity and inclusion within bicycle transportation.
Transportation Plans: Their Informational Content
and Use Patterns in Southern California
In a Pacific Southwest Region (PSR)-funded report, “Transportation Plans: Their Informational Content and Use Patterns in Southern California,” the University of California, Irvine (UCI) Associate Professor of Urban Planning and Public Policy Jae Hong Kim, along with UCI student researchers Xiangyu Li, Tanjeeb Ahmed, and Victor Paitimusa sought to identify key differences between transportation plans for California cities that could potentially impact the comprehension of plans, as well as their execution by cities, and potential use by stakeholders.

The METRANS Transportation Consortium was established in 1998 as the first University Transportation Center in Southern California. METRANS is a joint partnership of the University of Southern California (USC) and California State University, Long Beach (CSULB).

METRANS' mission is to solve metropolitan transportation problems of large through interdisciplinary research, education and outreach. Its three primary objectives are: (1) fostering independent, high quality research to solve the nation's transportation problems; (2) training the next generation transportation workforce; and (3) disseminating information, best practices, and technology to the professional community.
