METRO is preparing service adjustments to keep commuters moving during the Texas Department of Transportation’s planned closure of the Central Business District (CBD) ramp beginning Friday, Oct. 9.

The CBD ramp is the elevated I-10 HOV connection between Franklin Street in downtown Houston and Studemont Street. TxDOT is closing the ramp for reconstruction as part of the I-10 White Oak Bayou project, which includes rebuilding the I-10 HOV lanes and raising nearby freeway lanes to reduce flooding during major storms.

Throughout the closure, METRO will continue getting customers to their destinations by using alternate routes.

Park & Ride buses serving the US-290 and I-10 Katy corridors, including the 161 Wilcrest Express and 162 Memorial Express, will be rerouted during the closure. METRO will post service information at affected bus stop locations, including Park & Ride facilities and the Northwest Transit Center.

While METRO has identified alternate routes to maintain service, increased traffic is expected as other commuters are also redirected to surrounding roadways. Customers should plan for 15 to 30 minutes of additional travel time on inbound and outbound trips, particularly during peak commuting hours.

METRO will closely monitor travel times and traffic patterns throughout the closure and adjust service as needed to help keep customers moving. Route and bus stop information will be shared as changes occur.

METRO remains committed to providing reliable service and keeping customers moving throughout the closure.
