VIATC: MFPT Track #3
Tech Paper: Hands-on Demonstration Machine Health Monitoring and Diagnostics Using a Cell Phone Video
Wednesday August 3rd 1-2PM

Frame to frame processing of a high-speed video has gained popularity in recent years as a flexible non-contacting means of capturing dynamic time waveforms. Several low frequency faults can be even monitored using cell phone.
In this paper, signal processing methods are used to post-process the vibration time waveforms extracted from a video, and it is shown how data from the order-based peaks in their frequency domain ODS-FRFs are used to diagnose several simulated faults, including misalignment, unbalance, and looseness.

Introduction to MEscope ODS Videos
Thursday August 4th 1-2PM

Join us for a look at the next revolution in ODS, MEscope ODS Videos™. Dan Ambre from Full Spectrum Diagnostics will take us on an in depth look at the new MEscope ODS Videos™ software. Dan will share how MEscope ODS Videos™ was utilized to diagnose and resolve a high vibration alert from a Stator Coolant Pump in a fossil fuel plant. If you are wondering what all the buzz is about with ODS Videos, this the presentation for you.

MEscope Software Updates

The 7/5/2022 release build of MEscope VES
  • Alter the in-situ update process to try to account for non-admin rights during the installation of the update. (I think this has more to do with the limited user-access rights granted to the user of the system by their IT department, though)
  • Make sure all processing options are turned on in the ACQ window.
  • Include VES780 option in some licensing tests.
  • Incorporate new Japanese language translations.

The 7/5/2022 build of MEscope NXT
  • Correct the behavior when a VTmax file is double-clicked on in the windows file explorer so that the intended project is opened and displayed. (this assumes that the VTmax file extension is mapped to the MEscopeNXT application, which is done during the install)
  • Language changes to move away from "Snapshots" to "Recordings" in the application.
  • Incorporate new Japanese language translations.

ODS Videos Webinar: Case Study of a Paper Mill
From the Vibrant Youtube channel. Last months ODS Video webinar featured a case study of a Paper Mill that includes ODS, EMA and SDM analysis. A new Breast Roll “Shaker” was installed on a Paper Machine to create better alignment of the sheet fibers. An unintended consequence of this new component was that is created a potential resonance excitation source of vibration.
In this case the ODS Videos analysis, usually performed first, was performed last after the modifications were implemented.

See how all the tools in the MEscope Toolbox were used in this case study.
