Holiday Talent on Parade!

Talk about an incredible month of holiday performances! From the sold out dance show, Santa's Christmas Parade on December 9th and action-packed tumbling showcases, Tumble Down Rudolph's Runway to our week-long stream of holiday music recitals, there were so many shows to choose between that it was enough to make one's head spin in delight. If you were lucky enough to grab a seat to any of MFA's' holiday performances, you would have been on your feet cheering for the hundreds of talented children who performed. But if you didn't manage to attend, fret not for we have plenty of photos and video to share!

"MFA is really a special place to work"

New Staff Spotlight - Mikaela Warner

Let's give a warm welcome to our new Office Coordinator at the Stairway of the Stars Studio, Mikaela! Originally from Minnesota, she's lived in Kansas, Georgia, and is now happily putting down roots in Chicago. Once a theatre and speech performer herself, she's really excited to support the Drama program.

Mikaela joined us just in time to help out with the Holiday Dance Show, which really knocked her socks off. She shared, "I couldn't believe how many dancers were on that stage. I was so impressed with the level of talent at MFA!"

All we can say is, "You ain't seen nothin' yet, Mikaela!"

We love & wish you well, Erin Dunn!

It's hard to swallow the fact that our Erin, who started dancing with us at the tender age of three and has worked as the Office Coordinator (then later as Manager) for the dance studio since 2020, is moving on to pursue her professional dreams as a Juvenile Probation Officer for Cook County. Not seeing her face behind the desk is jarring, but we couldn't be prouder or happier that she's taking this career step.

As for Erin herself, she says "Maywood Fine Arts will always be my home. It has served as my safe space and I know it will do the same for others. There’s a certain magic/power there that helps youth to find their passion. I'm so thankful for everything MFA has exposed me to and for being a light on 5th Avenue!"

Well, no Spotlight can contain you, Erin Dunn! We truly support you as you spread your wings and fly towards your future.

But always remember your way back "home"!
