A Letter from the President of the Massachusetts Foot and Ankle Society - Anthony Tickner, DPM
Dear Members,
I hope this letter finds you well. As the President of the Massachusetts Foot and Ankle Society, I wanted to take this opportunity to outline my priorities for the year ahead and express my sincere gratitude for your continued support.
These are exciting times as we’re all undoubtedly weaning off the fabulous summertime fun with friends and family we’ve enjoyed. But as fun as the great weather in New England can be it’s time to get back into the trenches! As we near the APMA Region One meeting in October we are very busy with all sorts of planning and political strategizing on the legislative side.
My primary focus will be on expanding the scope of practice for podiatric physicians in Massachusetts, specifically to include the ankle. Current language will be available at the region one meeting for members to view. We plan on filing all of our legislative pieces this fall.
We’re also looking at other pieces of legislation including prior authorizations and removing some of those roadblocks as well as a revision to the CME requirements in Massachusetts. These are just some of the vital steps in ensuring that our profession remains at the forefront of patient care and continues to evolve with the needs of the medical community. I will also work towards enhancing professional development opportunities, improving access to top notch care and fostering a strong sense of community within our Society.
