October is National Bullying Prevention Month
What is bullying?

Bullying can mean a range of harmful and aggressive behaviors that can include:

  • people calling you names
  • threats and intimidation
  • being teased
  • being hit or attacked
  • having rumours spread about you
  • being ignored or left out
  • having your belongings damaged or stolen
  • cyber bullying
  • workplace bullying

Bullies might make personal or offensive comments about your appearance, your family, your religion, your race or your culture.

Bullying can be motivated by fear, jealousy, ignorance or misunderstanding.

Being the target of a bully can make you feel scared or upset. In some cases it can make you so worried you can't focus on school or homework.

  • October 28th at 7:30 pm ET

University and College representatives will be on hand via the WebEx platform to give a brief overview of their programs and admissions process, and answer questions from prospective OUTCAN students and their families.

Join the Facebook Group ‘Canadian Virtual University and College Fair’ or email mfs.washington@cfmws.com for more information and details on how to register.
Employment
As a dependent or spouse of a CAF member posted to the U.S. on an OUTCAN posting, you are eligible to apply for work while you are there.

However, there are some crucial steps that you will need to take before you may begin working, and you will not be able to start the process until you have arrived in the U.S.
As a military spouse, you need to find a career that works around your life, not the other way around.

These space images are from one of the CAF astronauts who's photo was taking to space by David Saint -Jacques.

David Saint-Jacques is a Canadian astronaut with the Canadian Space Agency.

He is also an astrophysicist, engineer, and a physician.

In December 2018 he launched to the International Space Station, as Flight Engineer on Expeditions 57, 58 and 59; he returned to Earth on June 25, 2019

When David’s wife, Vero, asked Heather and Josh Kutryk's prior to his launch for a photo, they just thought he wanted photos of all his friends on board the ISS to remind him of home.

The surprise was that it was flown into space and then presented to the Kutryks.

This image of the Kutryk family was taken a couple days after the selection announcement on Canada Day (July 1st, 2017).

They were in Montreal visiting the Canadian Space agency , where they experienced the biggest warm welcome from the staff.

Just look at their smiles! It was the start of their new lives.

And what an adventure they have been on since.

Online Mental Health Support
Do you sometimes get up in the morning feeling like this?

Recent stressful experiences make you sad
Transitional issues
Relationship issues
Family issues
Financial Issues
Bullying/harassment
Workplace stress
Health issues
And more...

Talking about your stressors with friends and family can help. But this might not be enough. Talking to a counsellor may be the best option for you.
Wouldn’t it be nice if each relationship came with its own user manual to help us navigate through the rough spots?

Keeping a relationship healthy is not always easy. Add the challenges that come with one or both partners being in the military. Well, you’ve got yourself an even bigger challenge now.

Our Healthy Relationship Campaign aims to provide CAF members and their families with resources to help support those experiencing unhealthy relationships and family violence. Check it out:
