Safety Corner

Practicing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO

Provided by Jayson Hauer

Practicing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) is critical in grain elevators to protect workers from the hazardous energy of powerful, complex machinery. Grain handling involves serious risks, including entrapment, engulfment, and entanglement, which can be fatal if equipment is accidentally activated during maintenance. LOTO procedures are an essential and legally mandated defense against these and other hazards.
